Unit 5 Tv & Short Film Production

Task 1- Lo1- Creating a Treatment

Working Title/ Proposal

The working title I will be going for is "Gears", as I will be doing a short film that's based around at the chosen location.  The reason why I picked to do a short film  is because everything I need will be in front of me, all I will need is actors and more filming equipment to use. The amount of actors I will be looking for is 3, as I can get some to act and rest to hold the filming equipment, and then swap it over between them at the different locations. The reason why I think this will work is Because it will be based in around cars with the actors talking to the camera, as I want to try and make those who watch the short film feel like they are there.
The Short film will be based around cars with the main location being at Apollo which is located in Sheffield . I will also try and record some simulation videos since I cannot legally drive these cars areas if there is any chance of finding anything interesting to record for the short film. These places are good to record at as they have lots of cars that I can use for my short film as I can also use their website to gather information on the chosen cars.  This will be taking inspiration from the television programme Top Gear, as I want to try and get my actors to reenact the humour However, I also want to add in my own ideas to make my short film different and new compared to the original Top Gear. Also, I want to add in a "Celebrity Guest" to talk about what they had found while at the filming location. I also will allow actors to go off script but not force it, as it will begin to make the film messy, as not everyone will be able to remember their lines when looking at the camera, but I do aim for the key information to be learnt.
The short film will take inspiration from the first episode of Top Gear, as I will either compare 2 hatchbacks or SUVs. I will then talk about one of the sport cars that are available at Apollo and mention all the facts about the car.
For our film, no budgeting will be required for our film is needed. This is because we already have the car needed for the film for free, we also have the building that we will use as the main site of the film sorted (as I own the keys to the building). Along with this I also already have my own equipment for the filming, meaning I won't need to either borrow a camera or pay a fee to use one. The Post-Production side of my short film will all be cost free. This is because my short film will include music created by me, along with platforms such as Adobe will be provided by UTC meaning I do not have any subscriptions required to pay for.
The BBFC rating that I will aim for is a 15. This is because there will be a lot of humour in this film that might not be best suited for a younger audience. Also, on top of this there is bound to be swearing in some parts of the film, as our driver tends to have a bit of a road rage from time to time.
As my short film will be an adaptation of both Top Gear and The Grand Tour. What I expect to see in my short film, is more than one host, guest star (someone who will not present the opening). The primary thing we need is a car, a setting where the filming will take place, and an introduction showing the audience short clips of what will take place in the film. However, because I do not want this to be a low budgeted copy and paste of Top Gear, I will be adding in some of my own creative adaptations to the short film instead. The main idea I have in mind, is to add blooper scenes once the main part of the film is done, as there is bound to be scenes that cannot be added into the main filming, but are too funny to not include.

Film Title Creation

For the title of my short film I decided to put some fonts together to decide on what would be best suited for the short film and also got my actors to vote on which one they preferred.
Once I had decided on a font I started doing designs, and trying to see which one best fitted for the film and the theme we are aiming to reach.
The style I will most likely go for is the second title, as the colour and style make it look more of a formula 1 title or something typically seen on a car.

For my final edit for the film title, the added extras I did for my title included, Bevel and Emboss, Stroke, Satin, Gradient overlay, Pattern overlay. This gives the title a much more fresh and modern appearance, compared to the first set of titles I did edits for.

Location Shooting 1

For my first shot for the film I used our first location setting to introduce one of the actors before going into the main part of the film. This scene only consists of the main actor who will tell the audience what to expect in today's short film.
However, this location won't be used as much or might not be included at all in the film due to travel issues with the actors getting into Sheffield.
